Article #2: Using the Android Whiteboard

Your Android Whiteboard is so much more than a traditional whiteboard or chalkboard! With your Android Whiteboard, you can:

• Insert images
• Automatically save your notes
• Alternate between backgrounds, including graph paper, blank sheet music, and a variety of sports play sheets
• Insert text and shapes
• And so much more!

In this article, you will learn how to:

• Access your Android Whiteboard and
• Use the menus and sub-menus on your Whiteboard.

Access your Android Whiteboard

Select the Whiteboard button on your Newline home screen.

You can also select the pen from any screen on the floating menu.

Menus

Press and release ("short press") to select any of the tools for use!

Press and hold ("long press") to pull up a sub-menu!

Sub-Menus

1) Insert menu:

Press the 3 dots or ellipse to open the insert menu.

2) QR code:

Press the QR Code to open the QR Code Exporting menu.

3) Move:

Touch and hold the screen to easily move around.

4) Insert shapes: 

Press and hold the square to choose the shape and color.

5) Pen (stylus): 

Press and hold the pen to choose the color and thickness.

6) Highlighter: 

Press and hold the highlighter to choose the color and thickness.

7) Clear all: 

Press and release the whiteboard with an eraser icon.  A pop-up menu will ask if you want to clear all of the notes. Select clear or cancel.

8) Toggle: 

Press and release the gear to choose whether the whiteboard recognizes a stylus and your finger or just your finger.

9) Add a new page: 

Press and release the plus sign to add a new blank page exactly like the one you are working on.

Press and hold the plus sign to pull up the sub-menu and change the color and pattern of your new slide.

10) Thumbnail view: 

Press and hold the "page/total pages" icon to open a thumbnail view of all of your pages. From this menu, you can toggle between pages or save your pages to your Google Drive.

Note: Unless you delete your pages, they will automatically save to the file viewer on the Android side of the Newline for approximately 30 days. The next article talks about how you can access and move these files to your Google Drive or a USB Flash Drive. We encourage the use of Google Drive!
