Every device connected to any network has its own unique 12-digit identifier called a MAC address (Media Access Control address.) It is usually displayed with a colon or hyphen separating every 2 digits. Example: 01:23:AB:45:67:CD You may be asked for this MAC address if requesting access to the district's wifi using a personal or non-GCISD device.
MacBook:
- Click the Apple menu at the top left
- Click System Settings --> Network
- Click on the Wi-Fi connection then click Details
- You will find the MAC address on the hardware tab
Windows:
- Right-click on the Start button and select Run from the menu
- Enter CMD then OK to launch the command prompt
- Type ipconfig /all at the command prompt then press Enter. Your network configurations will display
- Scroll down to your network adapter and look for the values next to Physical Address which is your MAC address
