Finding Your Laptop MAC Address

Every device connected to any network has its own unique 12-digit identifier called a MAC address (Media Access Control address.) It is usually displayed with a colon or hyphen separating every 2 digits.  Example: 01:23:AB:45:67:CD   You may be asked for this MAC address if requesting access to the district's wifi using a personal or non-GCISD device.  

MacBook:

1. Click the Apple menu at the top left
2. Click System Settings --> Network
3. Click on the Wi-Fi connection then click Details
4. You will find the MAC address on the hardware tab

Windows:

1. Right-click on the Start button and select Run from the menu
2. Enter CMD then OK to launch the command prompt
3. Type  ipconfig /all at the command prompt then press Enter. Your network configurations will display
4. Scroll down to your network adapter and look for the values next to Physical Address which is your MAC address
