GCISD has a utility called Chrome Gopher that makes it super easy to update the system on your Chromebook so its stays compatible with other software updates and runs efficiently.
Boot the Chromebook and launch the Chrome web browser. It's a good idea to have it plugged in just to be sure it doesn't run out of battery during the update.
Click on the gopher at the top right end of the Chrome toolbar.
The Chrome Gopher window will indicate if your device has an update. If not, congratulations! You’re good to go.
If your Chrome is out of date, simply click the large blue Fix It button and the Chromebook will start downloading and installing the necessary files.
Once your update is finished you only need to restart.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
If you don't have the Gopher in your toolbar, you can click the three dots on the far right, go to Help, then click on About Chrome OS.
Digital citizenship includes safeguarding yourself and your electronic devices: hardware and software. The best way to do that is to keep your GCISD Chromebook up to date with the latest software.
Thank you for doing your part to protect your data and your device!
